You will be met by your guide on arrival for the 9 days ahead. Drive and have a tour around Kigali and sleep here before your adventure to the each for Akagera and south-west for chimpanzees, the placid waters of Lake Kivu, Volcanoes National Park and its forest-draped peaks for gorillas, golden monkeys and culture.
Day 1- Starts at Kigali International Airport
You will meet your private guide at the airport for your transfer to the Hotel in the city. Arrive, check in and refresh, then prepare for the city tour (if your arrive early, if not you can do it on the last day). Visit the Genocide Memorial, Local markets, and other city attraction in the city with your guide.

Day 2- Kigali to Akagera National Park
From central Kigali, it takes around two to three hours on a scenic and winding smooth road to get to reach the Akagera National Park. With a private guide and your own vehicle, you have the option to stop on the way, perhaps to explore a village or to take a look at a roadside shop, so do talk this through with your guide. Depending on any stops you make en route, you should arrive at the lodge in the time for lunch. You will do a sunset boat safari on Lake Ihema and have a night at the lodge.

Day 3- Morning game drive and transfer to Volcanoes
Today we have an early morning game drive at the park. Akagera has been revived and now is on a big 5 status with the recent introductions of lions and rhinos to the park. This will be after our breakfast at the lodge. The drive is through the network of tracks at the southern part of the park. After we drive to Kigali, have lunch and then procced to Volcanoes National Park. Arrive in the late afternoon and check in at your lodge. After check in, refresh and visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus for Dian Fossey Fund. The campus information about gorillas and supports further research and the new generation of conservationists.

Day 4- Gorilla tracking and Gorilla guardian’s village tour
Gorilla trekking in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park is a magical experience, transcending any other wildlife encounter we know. Meeting a gorilla family in their forest home, led by a dominant male silverback and a cluster of females and young, is a natural adventure that fully repays the cost in unforgettable memories and images. Your driver-guide will operate your transfers to the park headquarters and introduce you to your trekking group and parks guide. After visit the gorilla gaurdians village.

Day 5- Golden monkey tracking and drive to Kibuye (Lake Kivu)
Spend a morning trekking to find the golden monkeys in the Volcanoes National Park. These endangered monkeys are endemic to the Albertine Rift area and are characterised by their golden-orange fur. You’ll be able to enjoy an hour watching them jump through the bamboo and hunker down to chew bamboo leaves, curiously watching you, as you watch them.
Your driver-guide will operate your transfers to the park headquarters and introduce you to your trekking group and parks guide. After the tracking, you will drive to Lake Kivu for an overnight.

Day 6- To Nyungwe Forest National Park
This morning, you will explore Lake Kivu by boat after our breakfast. The Lake is amazing with several islands and is shared between Rwanda and DR Congo. You will explore it by boat with a local guide, return and drive to Nyungwe National Park.
Arrive at the lodge, and you can choose to visit coffee factory in Nyungwe or relax from the drive at the lodge.

Day 7- Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk
Trekking to see the chimpanzees in Nyungwe Forest National Park can be exhilarating. While sighting them in dense forest can be challenging, to watch them cavorting in the tree tops, their all-too-human characteristics to the fore, makes this an exceptionally rewarding half-day excursion. After in the afternoon, do the canopy walk at the park. You will have a night at the lodge again.

Day 8- Colobus Monkey tracking and to Kigali via Nyanza
Visiting the black-and-white colobus monkeys of Nyungwe Forest is a highly enjoyable excursion. A gentler walk than trekking in search of chimpanzees, it takes you through lush green tea plantations surrounding an isolated patch of rainforest, where these striking primates can be spotted jumping around the trees. After drive to Kigali but with a visit the King’s Palace in Nyanza, do chat to your guide about the options. A visit to the King’s Palace and Museum gives an interesting insight into Rwanda’s cultural history and monarchy. It’s also ideally placed to break up the long journey to Kigali.

Day 9- Exit through Kigali Airport
If you missed on the city tour on the first day, you can do it and later your guide will drop you at the airport for exit.
